The tragedy struck during the much-anticipated Oasis reunion tour after a man in his 40s died from the upper classes of London’s Wembley Stadium on Saturday, according to British authorities and multiple media reports.

Preliminary information suggests that an unidentified fan in a section about 170 feet above the ground fell as the band was approaching the end of the concert.

Stadium police and medical personnel responded to reports of the fatal incident shortly after 10pm local time and died at the scene saying they had declared the victim “found with injuries consistent with falls” and “consistent with falls.”

“I am shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan on the show last night,” the band said in a statement reported by the outlet. “Oasis wants to express sincere and sadness to the family and friends of those involved.”

Wembley Stadium, the UK’s largest arena, seats 90,000 people and is divided into three levels.

The New York Times reported that some people at the concert were “like an ice rink” from drinks that spilled on the floor, while others called the floor in the central and upper sections “betrayal.” There were also online speculations that the man’s death coincided with the end of the sell-out concert, which meant that he might have been hurried into leaving the area.

Investigators sought information from the public, believing that many concert participants were likely to have witnessed the incident or that they may have mistakenly captured a fatal fall while filming on their mobile phones.

Oasis, formed in 1991 in the Britpop movement of the 90s from Manchester, England, along with other bands such as Blur and Pulp, has released influential rock music since the 60s. The band, formed by the Noel and Liam Gallagher brothers, released seven albums between 1994 and 2007.

Lead guitarist, singer and songwriter Noel left the band in 2009 after he was unable to work with Oasis lead singer Liam.

The tour will be the first in 16 years, starting in Cardiff, Wales on July 4th, with Saturday being the fourth of seven scheduled shows at Wembley.

The band’s management on Sunday said the show would continue as planned.
