Authorities say the man was fatally shot Wednesday night after undergoing a dramatic, high-speed pursuit Wednesday night, and was fatally shot when he crashed a truck on a bridge on the Santa Ana River.
According to Anaheim Police Sergeant, the incident began shortly after Orange County City, at 7:45pm. Matt Sutter. The adult male motel shooting victim was taken to hospital in stable condition.
The suspicious shooter escaped and within minutes police began pursuing, Sutter said.
Helicopter footage shot by KTLA News shows he blows the intersection, blows other vehicles, even weaving traffic and losing tires.
The man raced along the 91 highway with a white pickup truck and then made several attempts by officers to stop the truck.
After almost an hour of pursuit, the pursuit ended near West Memory Lane and North Bristol Street, Sutter said.
Police, pre-located on the Santa Ana River bridge, ran a pit maneuver, strategically attacking the suspect’s truck flank and entered the guardrail. According to the KTLA, it bounced back into the road and hit a bridge partition and rested.
Once smoking was poured from the vehicle, officers rushed to surround it. Police fired fire at 8:38pm and declared the victim dead at the scene, Sutter said.
The passengers in the car surrendered to police and were escorted, KTLA reported.
Information regarding the identity of the suspect and the shooting victim was not immediately available.
