The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department arrested the father of a 9-year-old boy in Compton on Saturday.
Princeton Jones was shot and killed by his father, Nicholas Jones, 32, as he played outside his grandfather’s home at Haskins Avenue and Alondra Boulevard around 7:40 p.m., officials said. announced in a news release.
The elder Jones was arrested Sunday on charges of murder and child abuse resulting in death, the statement added.
He is being held at the East Los Angeles Police Department in lieu of $2 million bail, according to jail records. He is scheduled to appear in Compton Municipal Court on Tuesday.
