R-Texas Sen. John Cornyn announced Thursday that the FBI granted federal agents a request to federal agents to help them find Texas Democrats who fled the state to halt GOP’s rezoning votes.

Cornyn said the FBI agreed to help Texas law enforcement agencies find members of the Texas House of Representatives “who fled the state in a shameful attempt to block the legislative process.”

“I am proud to announce that Coach Kash Patel has approved my request to the FBI to help state and local law enforcement find a runaway Texas House Democrat,” Cornyn said in a statement. “President Trump and Director Patel thank the federal government for taking responsibility for holding these supposed lawmakers accountable for fleeing. We cannot allow these unauthorized legislators to avoid constitutional liability.”

The FBI declined to comment when Fox News Digital reached it.

In Texas, more than 50 Democrats fled the state earlier this month, and at least 100 members of the 150 members must be present to prevent the required quorum at Texas homes.

A democratic government. JB Pretzker of Illinois, Gavin Newsom of California, and Kathy Hochul of New York defend the thieves who have given Texas Democrats sanctuary and have sparked them as a fight to save democracy.

Cornyn wrote to FBI director Kash Patel on Tuesday, asking the bureau to find or arrest “potential law violators” who fled to manipulate “in violation of their oath” to avoid legislative liability.

“The out-of-state actor has made public comments about protecting Texas legislators who are currently hiding out of state from accountability for their actions,” Cornyn wrote. “We require the FBI’s assistance as it requires federal resources to find out-of-state Texas legislators who may be acting in violation of the law. The FBI has tools to assist state law enforcement when they cross state boundaries, such as avoiding parties testifying or fleeing at the scene of a crime.

The letter cited concerns that legislators “sought or accepted funds to support efforts to avoid legislative obligations could be guilty of bribery or other public corruption crimes.”

“Governor Abbott and Texas law enforcement officials are doing what they can within the law, but they may need federal assistance,” Cornyn wrote. “These legislators are rushing to circumvent constitutional liability and must be fully investigated and accountable. We encourage them to work with Texas public servants to provide the necessary support.”

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has called a special session to move forward with plans for a Congressional district that will allow five new Republican-leaning House seats ahead of next year’s midterm elections.

Abbott filed an emergency petition with the state Supreme Court on Tuesday, calling for state Rep. Jean Wu to be removed from his duties, classifying him as “the ringleader of abandoned Democrats who fled the nation to break the quorum.”

President Donald Trump is urging Republican countries to open up a process of rezoning the central cycle to give the GOP a better chance to maintain control of the home.
