FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino revealed this week that the department was “closed” to suspects involved in planting two pipe bombs near the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, as a sign the department was solving the four-year mystery.

“The second we got, I put my team on it and said, ‘I want an answer about this,'” Bongino told “Fox & Friends.” “And I’m sure we’re trapped by the suspect.”

Law enforcement discovered two pipe bombs near the headquarters of the Republican and Democrats’ national committees around the same time that thousands of riot police began to descend on the Capitol in protest of the 2020 election results.

The faction at President Donald Trump’s base subsequently raised questions about the timing of the pipe bomb incident and the security breakdowns surrounding it, and speculated that the Biden administration was generally not open about the facts of the incident. Before being sworn in, Bongino was the main voice perpetuating the concept.

FBI “Close” the suspect in the case of a DC pipe bomb placed on the eve of January 6th

Former Secret Service agent and podcast host Bongino told listeners for his popular right-wing show that the FBI lied about the pipe bomb incident.

Currently, as Deputy Director, Bongino is facing pressure from supporters and critics to release new details about the incident.

What do you know about the suspect?

Video footage released by the FBI shows that an unidentified person placing a pipe bomb near two headquarters shows it more than 16 hours before law enforcement discovered them.

The suspect is seen wearing a gray hoodie, Nike Air Max Speed Turf sneakers, a face mask, glasses and gloves.

Before the January management change, the FBI also released minor last minute details that the suspect was about 5 feet-7.

Who found the pipe bomb?

A woman, a Capitol Hill resident, warned the guard that she had found the first pipe bomb in an alley behind RNC headquarters while collecting laundry around 1pm.

Security footage showed she was running from the washer and dryer area and notifying the security guard. It sparked a furious search that led DNC headquarters officials to discover a second pipe bomb there.

Was the pipe bomb active?

A general report from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) inspectors, released last year, revealed that two explosive devices could have been “executable” and “explosive,” and an innocent bystander was seriously injured or killed.

The bomb included an hourly timer. An FBI official said DHS reports that he does not believe the timer had detonated the bomb because it had already passed when it was discovered.

The report and the investigative report released by House Republicans revealed that at one point, then presidential election Kamala Harris and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, had come to his feet from the pipe bomb by the DNC.

What leads did the FBI receive?

The FBI has said it has received over 600 tips and continues to offer $500,000 rewards for successful leads.

House Republican reports that the FBI investigated who first searched the internet for “Pipe Bomb DC” and who recently purchased Nike shoes that can be seen in surveillance footage.

However, the report noted that the FBI’s investigation pace dropped after about a month as a result of the dryness of leads.
