FBI director Kash Patel revealed on Friday that the agency is investigating a recent spike in swatting incidents after saying some conservative media figures were targeted.
“We want to deal with the surprising rise in the ‘swatting’ incident, targeting media numbers,” Patel wrote on his social media Friday morning. “The FBI recognizes this dangerous trend, and my team and I are already taking action to investigate and hold responsible responsibilities.”
The director emphasized, “This is not about politics, and not only is it morally condemned to track law enforcement against Americans, but it also lives on dangerous people, including our executives.”
Swatting is when a person tries to send armed law enforcement to another person’s home over a false incident, when it has had fatal consequences in the past.

“That would not be acceptable,” Patel continued. “We are fully committed to working with local law enforcement to crack down on these crimes.”
He added that there will be more updates in the future.
Conservative podcaster Nick Sort said on Thursday in X that both his father and sister were watt that same day.
“Dozens of police officers tried to kick my father’s door with a gun point,” he wrote. “This is literal terrorism, and the FBI should treat it that way. Before calling SWAT, this sent an email to my sister calling me the Nazis. Of course, the motivation is clear.”
The player said the person who called the police said he claimed he “kills the whole family and demands that they intervene in the deadly force.”
“This is nothing more than an attempted murder. They wanted the police to kill my father,” he added.

An obvious swatting call at the home of Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene in December became fatal following a car accident with police.
Green said he was hit at least eight times before the threat of a fake bomb.
