Exclusive: FBI Director Kash Patel, J. The Edgar Hooverville has been closed and its headquarters have moved across Washington to the Ronald Reagan Building and the International Trade Center, where President Donald Trump has promoted the move, telling FOX News Digital that the FBI “ends on the way that they deserve.”

Fox News Digital retrieved Tuesday’s notes sent to the FBI on Tuesday, notifying employees of the move, and emphasized that serving Americans was the “most cost-effective way,” Fox News Digital learned.

Patel first suggested in May that the bureau would reassign the national workforce and move agents from the J. Edgar Hooverville, which opened in 1975.

The FBI and the General Services Agency (GSA) have been considering new FBI headquarters options for over a decade, including locations near DC in Maryland and Virginia.

FBI Director Kash Patel says the FBI will leave its long-standing headquarters

“The team, FBI headquarters will move down the street to the Ronald Reagan Building and the Hoover building will be closed,” Patel wrote in a note obtained by Fox News Digital.

Trump told Fox News Digital that the Ronald Reagan Building is “a great building” and that the FBI is “a great group of people.”

“The FBI will ultimately have the kind of building that they deserve,” the president told Fox News Digital. “Congratulations to Kash Patel, Dan Bongino and all the great people of the FBI.”

In a memo to the FBI, Patel said the bureau is “the world’s top law enforcement agency, and its headquarters reflects that fact.”

“After nearly 20 years of constant termination surrounding the issue, we finally managed to get it,” Patel said.

Patel said the move will also be acquired as “a location of our amazing workforce, a modern, safe and excellent headquarters, that will allow us to build for the future and maintain the mission’s success while becoming an incredible steward for taxpayers.”

Patel told the FBI that he “moved “closely with Congress and the GSA” and “will happen soon,” but that “there are many moving works.”

“Before HQ employees begin moving in stages, security and technology requirements must be enforced,” Patel writes. “Thank you for your patience and for keeping the course.”

Patel added:

Patel also thanked FBI officials and employees for “everything you do for the country.”

“And we’ll welcome to your new FBI and your new FBI headquarters,” writes Patel.

In 2024, the General Services Bureau said it would take more than 10 years to build the newly constructed FBI headquarters.

“The FBI has long had a serious upgrade. After decades of discussion, it is being delivered by President, Management and Director Patel. The bureau can provide far lower costs to Americans to taxpayers, far lower than the alternative,” a source told Fox News Digital.

Patel says the Hoover building is “not safe for our workforce.”

“If you work for the best law enforcement agencies in the world, we’re going to give you a building worthy of it, and that’s not this place,” he said.
