US citizens were among the three people detained Monday when federal agents entered the Stater Bros. Markets Store in Ontario, according to federal leaders and immigration activists.
The video recorded on the phone shows federal agents combing by examining the supermarket aisles around 10am, according to the grocery store. It is unclear why the agent keeps tabs on that person.
Arrests by federal agents are also being made nearby. Other footage showed the Ontario Police Station in the area.
Police said officers were responding to reported attacks on federal agents in the 500 block of Westholt Boulevard.
“On arrival, our officers confirmed that the officials were acting in official capacity as the officials tried to arrest the wanted person,” Ontario Police said.
In response to the presence of agents, the Inland Coalition of Immigration Justice held a press conference to express concern for the community.
Mark Ramos, president of UFCW 1428, said:
Law enforcement did not disclose the names of individuals who were detained Monday.
ICE has not responded to NBC4’s request for comment.
