The US immigration and customs enforcement agency raided in Paramount Saturday morning, the day after federal agents stormed several locations in Los Angeles.
A large group of protesters quickly gathered near the site of the attack on both Friday and Saturday.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department checked with the KTLA before 11:30am on Saturday to confirm that federal officials were engaged in enforcement operations in the 6400 block of Alondora Boulevard, but explicitly stated that they were not in the area they would support enforcement.
“[Deputies] “A LASD spokesperson said it is only to provide traffic management and general public safety, but is not supporting federal authorities at the location.”
US Attorney Bill Essayri confirmed on social media that federal law enforcement operations are “going forward as planned in Los Angeles County this weekend,” and advised anyone attempting to block enforcement will be arrested and charged.
Footage from scenes shot by KTLA shows both protesters and federal agents throwing smoke bombs as masked agents formed a line of skirmishes late Saturday morning.
This is a developing story. I will stay at KTLA for updates.
