The federal court of appeals filed a lawsuit in a documentary case that included former special adviser Waltin Nauta and Carlos de Oliveira, Jack Smith, aides to President Donald Trump, in a classified case.
The 11th Circuit dismissed the case against Nauta and de Oliveira on Tuesday morning, two weeks after the Justice Department moved to drop the charges.

The Justice Department filed a motion in January against Nauta and de Oliveira to withdraw all criminal cases, which ended more than two years after Smith’s investigation began.

Smith also tasked with overseeing investigations into whether Trump or other officials or organizations have hampered the peaceful transfer of power after the 2020 presidential election, including the certification of the Jan. 6, 2021 election college vote. I was owed.

The classified record case was dismissed in July 2024 by the US District Court for Southern District Judge Irene Cannon.
Smith indicted Trump in the US District Court in Washington, D.C. in a 2020 election case, but after Trump was elected president, Smith attempted to dismiss the case. Judge Tanya Chukkan granted the request.
Both cases were rejected.

The Justice Department worked on Jack Smith’s special advisor team in January after the then-at-general, Attorney General James McHenry, said he couldn’t trust “to carry out the president’s agenda faithfully.” More than dozens of key officials have been fired.
Deputy Assistant Attorney General Emile Bove also directed acting FBI Director Brian Driscoll to identify agents involved in the prosecution for the January 6th internal review.
