A federal judge on Monday prevented the Trump administration from enforcing some of the massive tax and spending bills blocking Medicaid funds at planned parent-child health centers.
A temporary restraining order by Massachusetts Judge Indira Talwani blocks the “big and beautiful bill” provision that will refund family planning providers.
At issue is the provisions of the new tax and spending bill signed into law by President Donald Trump on July 4th, which also eliminates a year-long Medicaid payments from Planned Parenthood Health Centers, as organizations also provide abortions.

White House officials told Fox News Digital that the Trump administration has pledged to end its use of federal taxpayer dollars to fund or promote elective abortions. Officials pointed out that the administration’s stance is a common sense position that the vast majority of Americans agree.
On Monday, the American Planned Parenthood Federation, Massachusetts Planned Parenthood Federation and the Utah Planned Parenthood Association filed lawsuits in federal court.
“The ban specifically covers the US Planned Parents and their members’ healthcare providers, namely the Medicaid program, wholly and fully advocate for abortion access and not using federal funds to punish legal activities,” the lawsuit states.

Planned Parenthood said the provisions have “devastating consequences” for more than 1 million patients using Medicaid as insurance at Planned Parenthood Health Centers nationwide, among others, including birth control and cancer screening.
Dominic Lee, president and CEO of the Massachusetts Plannard Tourhood League, said the organization has a long history of fighting for sexual and reproductive freedom.

“The Trump administration’s hellish ambition to close our clinic and abandon our patients won’t stop us. Let’s make me clear. We are not threatened. We were created in this moment,” she said. “Here in Massachusetts, we’re not bullied about fighting back and turning our backs on healthcare and human rights.”
