The government’s Department of Efficiency (DOGE) is once again urging federal workers to explain what they have achieved while President Donald Trump and Elon Musk were working to eradicate waste.
This week’s email reportedly came from the Human Resources Office (OPM), which includes the subject line “Last Week? Part II” that refers to previous Doge emails. The Associated Press reports that this is different from how emails go out as the new version is reportedly from individual institutions rather than from OPM.

Unlike the last email, however, this reportedly instructed workers to provide five bullet points explaining their weekly performance, according to multiple reports. The weekly emails are said to be held by 11:59pm until Monday.
Another important difference was the indication that you do not send classified or sensitive information, according to CBS News. Furthermore, it is said that people whose work is completely sensitive or classified have been told to write “all of my activities are sensitive.”

On Saturday, when email news broke, Musk responded to a tweet claiming that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses had told Department of Defense staff to reply to the email.
“The president has made it clear that this is essential for administrative agencies,” Musk wrote X:

Musk described it as a “pulse check” when asked about his previous email during Trump’s first full cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
“I think the email was probably interpreted as a performance review, but it was actually a pulse check review. Are there any pulses?” Musk said. “And if you have a pulse and two neurons, you can reply to the email.”
When he met French President Emmanuel Macron in his oval office, President Trump defended the email and said those who don’t answer were at risk of being fired.
