FEMA has opened two disaster recovery centers in the Los Angeles area and continues to assist residents affected by the devastating wildfires.
FEMA said in a news release from the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services that a disaster recovery center opened Tuesday for anyone experiencing major home damage, loss of personal property, or emergency needs due to wildfire-related disasters. said.
At the center, people can receive assistance with applying for federal aid, speak with state and federal authorities, receive updates on FEMA applications, and learn about the appeals process.
The two disaster recovery center locations are:
UCLA Research Park West: 10850 West Pico Boulevard, Los Angeles Pasadena City College Community Education Center: 3035 East Foothill Boulevard, Pasadena
Each disaster recovery center will open on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. Starting Wednesday, it will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Affected residents do not need to go to the center to apply for assistance. Officials say the quickest way to apply for FEMA assistance is to go online to www.DisasterAssistance.gov or use the FEMA app.

As of early Tuesday morning, the two main fires in the Los Angeles area, the Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire, were 17% and 33% contained, respectively. Both continue to burn as Santa Ana winds are expected to pick up this week.
