As President-elect Donald Trump continues to express interest in acquiring Greenland for the United States, Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman has signaled that he is open to the idea.

Fetterman said he does not support the forced occupation of Greenland, but the senator, who made the comments during an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “Special Report,” said he did not support the forced occupation of Greenland. He pointed out the American land acquisition.

“For purposes of national security and freedom around the world, the United States feels that ownership and control of Greenland is absolutely necessary,” President Trump declared in a post on Truth Social last month.

“Greenland is a wonderful place. If Greenland became part of our country, its people would benefit tremendously. We must protect it from a very vicious outside world and cherish it. Let’s make Greenland great again!” he said in a post on Truth Social on Monday.

Donald Trump Jr. visited Greenland on Tuesday.

According to denmark.dk, the ice island “has its own large municipal government, but is also part of the Kingdom of Denmark.” “Greenland was a colony of Denmark until 1953, when it was redefined as a Danish region. In addition to its own local government, Greenland has two representatives in the Danish Parliament, Folketing. Masu.”

The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Laken-Reilly Act on Tuesday in a bipartisan vote of 264-159, and Fetterman said he plans to support its passage in the Senate.

The measure is named after a 22-year-old Augusta University nursing student who was killed by an illegal alien in Georgia last year.

This law authorizes the Secretary of Homeland Security to issue detainers against illegal aliens who confess to, are charged with, arrested for, or convicted of acts that constitute the essential elements of theft or similar crimes; In such cases, the person is required to be detained. They are not bound by federal, state, or local governments.

Fetterman said he doesn’t see why it’s controversial that people who are in the U.S. illegally and commit crimes “need to leave.”

“Do you think this was one of the biggest issues, if not the biggest issue, in this election?” Fox News’ Bret Baier asked Fetterman.

The senator responded that if Senate Democrats can’t muster seven votes to support the bill, that’s one of the reasons they lose.
