An investigation is underway after a crash Thursday night in Los Angeles’ Boyle Heights neighborhood left a 77-year-old man dead and two teenagers hospitalized.
The accident occurred just after 9 p.m. when a Honda vehicle traveling westbound attempted to make a left turn in the 3000 block of East 4th Street.
Surveillance camera footage shows two teenagers, aged 17 and 18, heading eastbound, spinning out and crashing into the side of the Honda, which was stopped in the middle of the intersection.

The Mercedes veered off the road and collided with a utility pole. The two teens were taken to a local hospital in critical condition, the Los Angeles Fire Department said in a news bulletin.
According to the fire department, the man in the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses said they believed the Mercedes was speeding at the time of the accident. “I’d say they were probably going about 85, 90 speeds. It was pretty fast,” Connie Lomeli said.
Lomeli said the teens “didn’t seem affected.”
Police have not determined whether speed or alcohol were factors in the accident, which remains under investigation.
