Officials confirmed to KTLA that winds were driving the Palisades fire so fast that several people were injured, including at least one firefighter.
The Palisades Fire was first reported around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of North Piedra Morada Drive. By evening, the fire had grown to nearly 3,000 acres and was expected to continue spreading with the relentless Santa Ana winds.
Fire officials told KTLA’s Mary Beth McDade that several people were injured, three of whom were evacuated to Duke’s Malibu in the 21100 block of Pacific Coast Highway, around 9 p.m. Multiple burn victims were reported less than two miles away in Big Rock.

“We don’t know yet how many patients there are, but we are saying there are multiple burn patients, some with facial injuries and some with hand injuries,” one of the officials said.
Palisades fire threatens Southern California cultural touchstone
In addition to the civilian injuries, a 25-year-old female firefighter also suffered serious head injuries, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Eric Scott said in a post on X.
“She was immediately treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital for further tests,” he added.
There was no initial estimate of the number of structures damaged or destroyed. But news footage showed dozens of homes, other structures, vehicles and other property potentially ablaze.
