Even before federal agents overthrew Sen. Alex Padilla, things were tense in Los Angeles on Thursday.
We went out to train the Marines slightly in control of the national crowd and take control of the crowd. We were attacked by ice and wiped out the man from the church. Or maybe it was ice – armed masked agents refused to say where they came from.
But then things continued further south. Honestly, I thought it would take until Monday at least.
Homeland Security Secretary Christy Noem was in town to cosplay as an ice agent. You know she loves to dress up. Padilla, who was in the same building to meet the general, went to a press conference she was hosting and tried to ask her questions.
Bad thoughts.
Federal agents kicked him out of the room and shoved him into his lap and handcuffed him. Finally, he headed towards the ground. The FBI confirmed that my colleagues hadn’t arrested, but that’s a bit of comfort.

Officers may not have known Padilla was a US Senator when Padilla began chasing him, but they certainly did until the cuffs snapped.
Padilla was asked, “Hands off, hands off. I’m Senator Alex Padilla.”
The hands were still there.
Gov shortly after the video of this horrifying episode hit social media. Gavin Newsom posted on X.
surely.
After he stood up, Padilla revealed that his questions had not been answered so far, so all he was trying to do was get some information.
“I was there in peace,” he told reporters. “At one point I had a question so I started asking. I was forced out of the room right away. …If this is how the Department of Homeland Security responds to the Senators in the questions, then I can only imagine what they are doing to cook for the Los Angeles community and day workers all over California and across the country.”
In these times, it is difficult not to think of Martin Niemerer’s poem “It came first.” The priest, Nie Mehler, was actually a pro-Nazi until the machine turned him on and he entered the concentration camp to oppose Hitler’s rules regarding the church.
Noem apologized for any inconvenience caused after the press conference.
“I hope he reached out to identify himself and he wanted to talk about who he was and who he was,” she told reporters. “His approach was something I didn’t think was appropriate at all, but the conversation was great and we continue to communicate.”
It was amazing! Send the Marines!
When asked why she ordered Padilla to be removed, Noem postponed it to law enforcement.
“I’ll let law enforcement talk about how this situation was handled, but I’ll say people need to identify themselves before they charge at these moments during a press conference,” she said.
“Runs.”
We are beginning to feel that being brown in America is a crime. The brown man is said to be charging. New black man driving.
It had already passed through the land of Maga, shortly after Noem had made the accusation. House Speaker Mike Johnson immediately denounced Padilla when asked about the troublesome incident. Johnson suggested that the Senate should denounce Padilla because “the message needs to be sent.”
He then insisted that “the senator could not “seek the cabinet secretary” but of course not. But the truth rarely plagues Trump or his followers.
Our other California Senator, Sen. Adam Schiff, came to the defense of his colleagues and requested an investigation.
“The person who sees it – anyone who sees it, it turns your stomach,” he said. “To watch this video and see what happened, a totalitarian leak – leak – to see what happened. This is not what democracy does.”
Political commentator Mike Madrid noted that this issue of immigration is a personal issue for Padilla.
Padilla is the son of Mexican immigrants, Santos and Lupe Padilla. He entered politics in 1995 for the anti-immigration proposal 187. This is a California measure that knocked out all undocumented people in many public services, including schools. He has been the champion of the immigrant community ever since.
“It’s hard to explain how angry and passionate Senator Alex Padilla is – I’ve known him for 25 years and have never seen anything like this,” Madrid wrote online. “He’s a living example of how Latinos feel now.”
Not just Latinos, but all Americans who care about democracy.
We are about to have a debate for about 3,000 hours on whether Padilla deserves what he got, as he was not invited to the press conference.
The right wing looks for that charge and parses the video by saying Padilla is offensive. The left would say he has the right to ask his duty. Because he is an elected representative whose members have been detained and disappeared, even as American citizens.
I say I don’t really care if you’re a pro-tramp or a pro-Padilla.
If you care about seeing the US senators forced to be in their lap to ask questions about our constitution, legitimate procedures, and civil rights, then it should be a horrifying call for awakening.
It turns out to be true. After they come for the vulnerable people, they certainly come for the rest.
