(News Nation) – A Peruvian fisherman who survived 94 days lost in the ocean in the Pacific Ocean has been reunited with his family.
Maximo Napa Castro, 61, set sail on a two-week fishing trip with 10 days of bad weather on December 7th, and took the boat off the course. His family began a search, but authorities were unable to find him.

The Peruvian Navy announced on Facebook that Castro was discovered on Wednesday by an Ecuadorian patrol vessel, nearly 700 miles from the coast of a town in northern Peru.
Castro was taken to a hospital in Paita city, where he was discharged on Saturday.
Castro said he survived the rainwater while stuck in the ocean, eating cockroaches, turtles and birds. He spent the last 15 days without food.
Castro told local media he was thinking about his family while he was stuck.
“My mother is alive. I didn’t want to die for her,” Castro said. “I have a two-month old granddaughter. I’m clinging to it.”
Castro was discharged from the hospital and was taken to Lima after being reunited with his family. His nie, Leila Torres Napa, said the family had planned to celebrate his birthday.
“The day he was born was unique. [while at sea] It was a small cookie, so it’s very important for us to celebrate. Because for us he was born again,” she said.
