The fitness influencer mom and her business partner were shot and killed by their estranged husband outside a restaurant in Southern California, and the two discussed the project they were coming, according to the family.
Gloria Zamora, 40, and her 43-hectare Garduno, wrapped up a meeting on a new project Sunday night at a strip mall sushi restaurant in the San Bernardino County community in Fontana when they were shot and killed in a parking lot. The suspected shooter, identified by police as an estranged husband, was shot dead by an unjust sheriff’s aide after hearing the shooting, police said.
Zamora and Gardono died in hospital.
The fitness instructor has accumulated a considerable social media base with 155,000 Instagram followers and 85,000 followers on Tiktok, and posted video fitness advice for other moms. The family described her as hardworking, dedicated to her family and having great plans for the future.
“I miss mom so much,” said her daughter Jazzlyn Zamora. “We saw no one on Saturday. She went to a business meeting. She took a photo and met her business partners to open a gym for women.
“I’m just waiting for her to walk through the door and come laughing. It’s so intense.”
In a fundraising post, Jazzlyn Zamora said her mother was “the light of her community.”
“My mother was more than just a mother. She was the light of her community,” Jazzlyn Zamora said. “She raised countless women, reminding them of their worth, their strength and their potential. She always said, “Women can do anything they can set their minds,” and she lived those words every day.
Police said it was not immediately clear how the shooters knew that Zamora was at the strip mall location.
Zamora referenced the relationship on her “Helizon” podcast a few days ago. Jazzlyn Zamora said the two have been together for over 15 years.
“He was always extremely abusive to my mom,” Jazlin said of her stepfather. “I was abusive mentally, physically and emotionally until Saturday. Every day was a fight and discussion, and a problem with my mother.”
Garduno’s family said he was the father of four daughters.
“He was a loving, devoted, hardworking man who was tragically murdered and soon went,” the family said in a fundraising post. “He lived his life with strength and did everything he could for his four daughters and his family. His passing opened a hole in our hearts and left a blank in our lives that we could never fill.”
