A total of six people inside the vehicle were involved in a violent late-night crash in Santa Ana on Saturday, and authorities say some of the victims may be relatives.
Initial information from Officer Natalie Garcia of the Santa Ana Police Station shows officers were dispatched to the West Segastrome Avenue and Southtownsend Street areas around 11:30pm in a report of a vehicle that had hit a tree.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered six women (five women and one man) in the car at the time of the crash. Their preliminary investigation revealed that the male driver was moving westward through the Segarthstrom at high speeds when the crash fell.

Of the six victims, four were declared dead at the scene, Officer Garcia said. The fifth died in a nearby hospital, while the sixth is in critical condition.

The victims are family members of several people, but their exact relationship is unknown, but Officer Garcia detailed it, adding that the obstacles could have played a role in the crash.
Video footage obtained by KTLA shows the aftermath of the crash with a massive law enforcement presence along the Segarthstrom as firefighters rose onto a ladder to access damaged, broken vehicles beyond recognition next to the central tree.
The stretch at Segerstrom near the crash site remained closed as of 6am Sunday.
