Parts of San Fernando have already been rattling down the rain due to lightning, crashing into rain and ail, causing a system of storms moving around the mountains to flow into the valley, the National Weather Service reported.
With flash flood warnings issued for Los Angeles County until 6pm, forecasters said the main dangers would be potential hail, lightning, and a heavy downpour in some areas.
“There’s very little chance of exceeding the rainfall rate. [half an inch per hour] With a strong shower/storm,” the NWS added.
Granada Hills residents saw heavy rain, as well as thunder and lightning, around 3:30pm on Thursday.

Weather officials said that despite the low risk of mild flooding and debris flowing in some areas, they are likely to be affected by the 12pm to 9pm transit storm system, which could potentially be a wet afternoon commute.
Coastal areas in LA County are expected to remain dry on Thursday, and Valley areas on Friday will be seeing the same dry weather and will be warmer until late next week.
“If temperatures are well above normal, next Tuesday and Wednesday are very likely to be very high, so the 90s highs are expected across the valley,” the NWS said.
