Florida Sen. Jason Pizzo, who was the Democratic leader of the state Senate – announced he has switched to party affiliation.
State Sen. Lori Berman was tapped to replace Pizzo as Senate Democrat leader.
In a speech Thursday, Pizzo declared, “The political party system here in Florida is almost dead.” He argued that “Florida Democrats are dead,” adding, “There are good people who can revive it, but they don’t want it to me.”
He also said there are many issues with Republicans.

Nikki, the chairman of the Florida Democratic Party, denounced the state legislators.
“Jason Pizzo is one of the most effective and unpopular Democratic leaders in recent memory, and his resignation is one of the best things that should happen to the party over the years,” Fried argued. “His legacy as a leader includes continuing to lighten the party foundation, starting a fight with other members, sacrificing democratic values and chasing his personal ambitions.
“The failure to build support for the governor’s run within Jason’s party led to this last embarrassing temper tantrum. I would lie if I said I was sad to see him go, but I wish him good luck in the political wilderness that he was created for himself.

Florida Rep. Susan Valdez and Hillary Cassel announced last year they would switch from Democrats to Republicans.
Former US Rep. David Jolly, a Republican, announced in 2018 that he had switched to party affiliation, but was no longer in office at the time.
But now Jolie has just changed his registration to Democrats, according to Politico.

According to the outlet, Jolie said he is “extremely considering the run for the governor.”
