Florida Sen. Jason Pizzo announced last month that he had switched from Democrats to party affiliation, but revealed he is planning a bid for the Sunshine state governor.
“Yes, I,” Pizzo said after CBS News Miami’s Jim Defede asked the state senator if he was planning to run for governor.
In a written statement from Fox News Digital, Pizzo said, “Florida is ready to return to the basics of public service when someone puts people in front of a party. The state is facing important financial and resilience challenges. [the] The best thing to guide us. ”

The current Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is currently serving his second term, is not eligible to run for governor again in 2026.
The state constitution provides that “anyone who has served as governor or representative governor for more than six years in two consecutive terms will not be elected governor for a later term of office.”
