Chakrabarti said he respects Democratic leaders, but the country has changed dramatically since his early days in Washington. He said Pelosi intervened to block Ocasio-Cortez from becoming chairman of a strong House committee on surveillance and reform.
“When Nancy Pelosi was first elected to Congress, you could buy a house with a single income. Summer jobs allowed you to pay for college,” he wrote . “Republicans believed in climate change and respected election outcomes. Now, what defined America’s dreams – being able to raise healthcare, education, homes and families is impossible for most people. ”
He added that Republicans are “outrageously conspiratorial and anti-democratic.”
