Former White House Deputy Chief of Staff Bruce Reid sits with Congressional investigators examining whether it covers signs of the former president’s mental decline.
Reid arrived just before 10am on Tuesday and hadn’t said anything to reporters for a closing door interview with House Oversight Committee staff.
The longtime Biden alliance was the ninth former White House official to appear in the probe, and the sixth came spontaneously.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Kommer, R-KY. is investigating whether former President Joe Biden’s inner circle hides signs of mental decline, and whether the autopen signature was used in the enforcement decision without Biden’s full awareness. Of particular interest to investigators are the myriad of generous orders signed towards the end of Biden’s presidency.
However, the former president and his allies pushed back allegations of fraud. Biden himself told the New York Times last month that he was behind all the decisions made on pardons and commutes.
Reed, like many people who have appeared before him, has something to do with Biden’s return over the decade.
He was the vice president’s chief of staff under the Obama administration from January 2011 to December 2013. Lead’s tenure in that role was booked by Ron Crane and Steve Richetti, respectively.

However, it is unlikely that Reid’s testimony would provide investigators with any kind of smoking gun.
Biden’s allies that have appeared voluntarily in the past have claimed that they believe the former president can become commander, but some, like Crane, have admitted that his memory has become dull over time.
Others like Richetti and former advisor Mike Donilon suggested that they believe Biden remained as sharp as ever and had been around for another four years, sources previously said.
In contrast, all those who appeared under the subpoena granted the Fifth Amendment to avoid answering substantive questions.

Reed is reported in a former aide who was dubbed as part of Biden’s “Politics Bo,” who calls shots towards the end of Biden’s “Politburo” term, according to Axios reporter Alex Thompson and CNN host Jake Tapper.
Lawmakers are not expected to sit for a transcribed interview with Reed. Such sit-ins are often led by both Democrats and Republican lawyers on the committee.
However, it can last for several hours. All five transcribed interviews were there before the lead took at least four hours. Richetti was especially around 8 hours.
