Christine Crowley made her first public comment since she was removed as Los Angeles Fire Department chief on Friday by Mayor Karen Bass.
The shooting went into effect immediately Friday morning. Retired Vice Chief Ronnie Villanueva has been appointed interim chief.
The former Chief Crawley statement was provided to KTLA on Saturday and can be viewed below.
“As a humble civil servant over the past 30 years, it has been an absolute honor for 25 of the LAFD to represent and lead the men and women of one of the greatest fire stations in the world. As a fire chief , I am based on my actions and decisions in caring for our firefighters so that they can take care of our community. Serve others before self, I have guided me throughout my career by guiding with courage, sincerity and caring, love and respect to do the right thing. I am extremely proud of the work, sacrifice and dedication of LAFD members. It’s there.

Crawley remains in LAFD, but at a lower rank than assigned by Villain Eva.
On Friday, Bass cited “the greatest benefit of public safety in Los Angeles and the operation of the Los Angeles Fire Station as a reason for their termination.”
“We know that the 1,000 firefighters who may have been working in the morning had fires instead on Crowley’s surveillance,” Bus said in a statement Friday. “And the necessary step into the investigation was to tell Chief Crawley, the chairman of the Fire Commission and to have an action report on the fire. The Chief refused.”
The pair have been trading barbs since the fatal and destructive palace and Eton fires broke out in early January. On Friday, some city councillors defended Crawley, calling the fire “scapegoating.”
“We are furious at the scapegoating revealed by the mayor’s actions,” said Councilman Monica Rodriguez. “
