It was a wild night for street vendors in the South Bay, with four armed robberies occurring within an hour between Friday and Saturday.
Police are investigating a group of three to four armed robbers who attacked four food stores and stole cash at gunpoint. Los Angeles Police Department said investigators believe all the robberies may be related.
According to law enforcement, the timeline of the incident is as follows:
At 11:40 p.m., at the intersection of Torrance Boulevard and Denker Avenue in Harbor Gateway, three or four armed men, all dressed in black, struck a vendor in the head with a gun. The robbers fled with $500 in cash, and the victims were treated for their injuries at a hospital. 11:52 p.m., intersection of Normandy Avenue and W. 190 Street, Harbor Gateway – Three to four armed men demanded cash from a street vendor and fled with approximately $1,500. No one was injured in the robbery. At 12:20 a.m., a group of armed men pointed guns at vendors and demanded cash at the intersection of 182nd Street and Western Avenue in Torrance. It is unclear how much money he took with him, but he left the scene in a dark-colored car with no license plate. Just before 12:30 a.m., two men demanded cash from a street vendor at the intersection of Torrance Boulevard and Vermont Avenue in Carson. One victim was injured and was hospitalized with injuries, which have not been made public. It is unclear whether the attackers left with the cash.
