Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his resignation Monday, leaving his Liberal Party in turmoil as poll numbers decline and an election looms.
The person who will take over the leadership of an unpopular ruling party will be the next Prime Minister, and that person will face rising costs of living, an immigration crisis, and an aggressive response from President-elect Trump, not to mention a challenge from Canada’s dominant Conservative Party. The next Liberal leader will be chosen in a national leadership election, according to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
