Fox News poll: Zelensky’s 20 points approved since the start of the war in Ukraine

As Ukraine enters its fourth year war with Russia, the latest Fox News polls found the American approval of Ukrainian President Voldimia Zelensky, despite the majority continuing to support his country’s financial aid.

The Fox News investigation, released on Thursday, took place in front of Zelensky schools on Wednesday, calling for back-to-back calls between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.

56% of US voters have approved Zelensky’s response to the Russian invasion. This represents an 18-point decline from the 74% approval in February 2023 (the most recent time Fox asked questions), and a 20-point decline (76%) since the start of the war in March 2022.

Fox News poll: Trump, Democrats roam and Republican

That decline is primarily due to a 42-point decline in approval among Republicans (34% today vs. 76% were approved in 2022). There was also a nine-point drop among independents (approved by about 8 in 10) while the Democrats remained stable.

56% of voters support Ukrainians’ continued financial aid. That remains unchanged from last year, falling seven points from its 63% high in January 2023.

Fox News poll: Voters are concerned about doges, even as they see the need for cuts

“The Republican support for U.S. support for Ukraine fell as the new president and vice president pushed for a ceasefire and provided only Zelensky’s conditional support,” says Daron Shaw, a Republican poll that has polled Democrats Chris Anderson and Fox News. “Elite clues are important for partisan opinions.”

Half of voters, 50%, have approved the US, providing financial aid to the US government, which has dropped 2 points since June last year and 10 points from 10 points (just a few weeks after the Hamas attack).

Regarding the conflict itself, 55% were Israelis (54%) than Palestinians. However, support has steadily declined since the start of the war in October 2023, when 68% supported Israeli people.

Overall, 32% support Palestinians, with 18% almost doubled in 2023.

A third of Israelis support Israelis (34%), while half support Palestinians (50%), with six in ten supporting Israelis (59%) and Palestinian quarter (25%). Majority support for Israelis is mostly stable among Republicans (currently 77%, 79% October 2023) and independents (53%, 58%).

Voters are split when asked more general questions about how much the United States should spend on humanitarian foreign aid. 36% wants to stay the same as last year, 39% wants to fall, while 23% wants to increase.

Trump is generally underwater when it comes to handling diplomacy. His job ratings are net negative with 5 points (45% approved, 50% disapproval), 7 points in China, 8 points in Mexico, 10 points in Ukraine, 16 points in Russia and 23 points in Canada.

Trump’s job approvals in Russia have improved by 5 points since Fox last asked the question (from 35% in April 2018 to 40% today), while China has dropped by 4 points (49% in April 2017 was 45% today).

Overall, 49% have approved the work Trump is doing as president, consistent with record highs.

The FOX News survey, conducted under the direction of Beacon Research (D) and Shaw & Company Research (R) from March 14-17, 2025, includes interviews with a sample of 994 registered voters randomly selected from voter files across the country. Respondents either spoke with live interviewers on landlines (123) and mobile phones (648) or completed the survey online after receiving texts (223). The results based on the complete sample have a margin of sampling error of ±3 percentage points. Higher sampling errors associated with results between subgroups. In addition to sampling errors, the language and order of questions can affect the outcome. Weight generally applies to age, race, education, and local variables, ensuring that respondents’ demographics represent the registered voter population. Sources for developing weight goals include American Community Survey, voter analysis for Fox News, and voter file data.
