BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Hollywood is dressing up as the Golden Globe Awards return to the annual champagne-soaked film and television extravaganza that marks the ceremonial start to awards season.

The Globes will also be available to watch through live TV streaming services that include CBS in their lineup, including Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, and FuboTV.
Who is nominated for a Globe Award?
Jacques Audiard’s bold musical “Emilia Perez,” about a Mexican drug lord who undergoes gender reassignment surgery, is the frontrunner. Along with “Wicked” and “Anora,” it is nominated for Best Picture, Best Musical, and Best Comedy, and stars Zoe Saldana, Carla Sofia Gascón, and Selena Gomez are nominated for acting.
Nominations for Best Picture and Best Drama include “The Brutalist” and “Completely Unknown.” Their stars, Adrien Brody and Timothée Chalamet, are nominated for Best Actor in a Drama.
In the TV category, “The Bear” led all candidates with 5 nominations, followed closely by “Shogun” with 4 nominations. Viola Davis and Ted Danson will receive lifetime achievement awards.

5 more things to look for
Timothée Chalamet could win his first Globe Award.
Best actor in a drama went to Ralph Fiennes (“Conclave”), Adrien Brody (“The Brutalist”), Daniel Craig (“Queer”), Colman Domingo (“Sing Sing”), and Sebastian. He became a bruiser. Stan (The Apprentice) and Chalamet in the Bob Dylan movie Complete Unknown. Fiennes or Brody may win, but Chalamet’s win will be the 29-year-old star’s first major award and will certainly add to Oscar buzz.
Next is “Wicked”. “Emilia Perez” may take precedence over “Wicked” for Best Comedy or Musical, but Jon M. It’s in the candidates. It’s also possible that one or both of the lead actresses from “Wicked” could win. Erivo will win in the lead actress category and Grande will win in the supporting role category.
There’s also Hollywood’s biggest feud.
Days before the Globe Awards, Blake Lively came forward about her treatment on the set of It Ends With Us, alleging harassment and a coordinated campaign to attack her reputation. A lawsuit was filed against several people involved in the romantic drama, including director Justin Baldoni. Ms. Baldoni has joined a lawsuit accusing the New York Times of defamation over an article about her allegations, which she denies.
Whether or not it’s mentioned on stage at the Beverly Hilton Ballroom, it’s sure to stick in the minds of many in attendance. Among the box office nominees is “Deadpool & Wolverine,” starring and co-produced by Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds. Glazer, whose sharp jokes poking fun at Tom Brady helped propel her to where she is today, is not known for biting her tongue.
The Globes will also be held about two weeks before President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration, and if the presenters and winners are inclined to continue Hollywood and Trump’s past mutual antagonism, it will be very difficult. It could be political. However, that may be unlikely. So far in Hollywood awards season, most nominees have tried to stay out of contention.
However, there is a big exception: The Apprentice, a drama about young Trump starring Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong. Both were nominated for Globe Awards. Stan also received his second nomination for his performance in “A Different Man.”
So far, it’s been an unusually uncertain awards season in many ways. Several films, including “Conclave,” “Anora,” “Wicked,” “Emilia Perez,” and “The Brutalist,” could all be decent Best Picture nominees, but none of them actually made it to the frontrunners for Best Picture. There are no movies like that. They don’t usually do much to sort this field out, but a strong showing in any of the above could spur an Oscar campaign.
