Today’s tax returns deadlines are usually a horrifying experience for taxpayers who have to throw away a big piece of fabric to the government. However, many restaurants are offering some financial relief this week, including discount deals on burgers, donuts and pizza.
And here’s a little more comfort. California residents and businesses affected by the January wildfire are granted a six-month extension (until October 15, 2025) to file and make payments with federal tax returns, according to the Internal Revenue Service.
The state is also offering an automatic six-month extension to file tax returns for all Californians. However, according to the Franchise Tax Committee, taxes for the 2024 calendar year must be deposited or consumed by April 15, 2025. Taxpayers who are unsure whether they are owing money or not can refer to the board of directors’ tax calculator.

If you decide to buy a dozen donut directly, the second original glass dozen equals the first dozen California sales tax. According to the California Department of Taxation, this is about $1.52 based on the current statewide sales tax rate of 7.25%.
