Exclusive: The new law creates severe penalties for executives of publicly traded companies that do not knowingly comply with the federal government’s Employment Eligibility Verification Act.

The proposal continues to crack down on suspected immigration violations, including a criminal search warrant executed in California at cannabis facilities earlier this month, resulting in multiple arrests of illegal immigrants and child labor investigations.

“Liberals like Gavin Newsom pretend to care about human rights, but the sad truth is that the Democratic public boundary agenda really weakens American wages and allows billionaire donors to supply cheap and constantly with foreign labor,” Sen. R. Ohio said in a statement.

Sen. Bernie Moreno of R-Ohio will gesture as he speaks on the second day of the Republican National Convention (RNC) at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on July 16, 2024.

“So, if arrested this simple executive who abuses illegal immigrants with slave wages, they should be personally liable and faced with serious consequences.

Specifically, Moreno’s “enhance individuals and strengthening employer accountability to reform enforcement laws” (Safe Employment Act) would require the company’s CEO and Chief Human Resources Officer to register with their employment practices in their annual SEC report, including ensuring that they have verified the legal work status of all employees.

Additionally, the company demonstrates in its SEC report that it has disclosed to the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice that it has “significant flaws” that hinder federal employment eligibility requirements or ability to comply with known violations.

Executives could face up to $1 million fines in prisons for up to 10 years to intentionally create false certifications. Anyone deemed liable for a violation that involves illegally hiring people in the country can be fined $5 million for up to 20 years behind the bar.

“This isn’t about labor laws or employer penalties, the federal government makes it clear. They’re more interested in lining up in the pockets of private, commercial detention centers than children and families who waste their children and families in care, rather than keeping indefinitely the billions they spend in these facilities.”

Since passing the Immigration Reform Act of 1986, intentionally hiring people who are unable to legally work in the country is opposed to the law.
