Exclusive: GOP lawmakers on the House Homeland Security Committee are leading hearings on the growth of anti-Semitic violence in the United States in response to recent attacks in Boulder, Colorado and Washington, D.C.
Those attacks are not outliers, according to the chairman of the committee’s counterterrorism and intelligence news subcommittee. Texas’ August Pfluger MP said. He is scheduled for a hearing on June 11 to investigate the rise of anti-Israel terrorist attacks in America’s homeland.
“From harassment of Jewish students and calls for “globalization of intifadas,” to arsons against the Jewish governor of Pennsylvania, to the cold-blooded executions of two embassy staff at the Israeli Embassy in our country’s capital, this Sunday’s heinous attacks were not isolated incidents, not part of a disturbing pattern, and not part of a disturbing pattern, he said on FOX News. “Anti-Semitic violence and harassment, whether on university campuses or in communities, remains unconfirmed in the United States.”

“In the wake of the failure of foreign policy and the Biden Harris administration’s open border policy, the Department of Homeland Security must work with state and local law enforcement to prepare to meet moments of increasingly complex threat landscapes both at home and abroad,” he said. “Congress must ensure that America is a fortress of freedom for all, and that our Jewish neighbors can live freely from hatred and persecution.”
Among those appearing at the hearing is Kelly Sleeper, the assistant director of information sharing with a secure community network. The group is North America’s largest Jewish security organization. Sleeper oversees the 24/7 operation of the National Jewish Security Operations Command Center, which coordinates information with agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the FBI.
Pfluger has previously issued warnings about anti-Semitic violence and other terrorist threats that put the safety of American citizens at risk. For example, he reintroduced the law in February. This is known as Counter Online Radical and Terrorism Act, to require DHS to annually assess threat terrorist groups such as Isis and Hamas, and to assess DHS posing to the US using foreign cloud-based mobile or desktop messaging applications.
The measure has received bipartisan support, with California Democrat Jimmy Panetta being co-sponsored.
The Pfluger hearing came shortly after gunmen fired fire and killed two Israeli embassy employees in Washington in May. Authorities say a pro-Palestinian man identified as Elias Rodriguez, 31, of Chicago, was arrested in connection with the incident.
Filming at the Capital Jewish Museum highlights the rising wave of anti-Semitic hate crimes
Jaron Lisinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim were shot dead when they left the event at the Capital Jewish Museum in this handout released to the US by the Israeli Embassy on May 22, 2025.
Similarly, Sunday’s terrorist attacks in Colorado injured dozens of people, including Holocaust survivors, during an event hosting Run for Islots Group, a grassroots group that hosts events to encourage the release of Israeli hostages.
The suspect in the attack, Mohamed Sabrie Soliman, was the first to enter the United States under the Biden administration and overestimated his visa, multiple Homeland Security sources told Fox News. Law enforcement officials say the 45-year-old Soliman yelled “Free Palestine” and used a makeshift flamethrower to carry out the attack.
Lawmakers and Intelligence News experts have long been warning about foreign terrorists entering the United States and attacking American citizens.
For example, Rep. Mike Turner, R. Ohio, then House Secret Committee Intelligence Email Committee, and House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Greene warned of such terrorist threats in August 2024, and determined that the release of a Republican report from the House Judiciary Committee had released almost 100 trespassers on the terrorist watch list.

“The Biden Harris administration’s failures in open border policy have welcomed potential terrorists in our country, so we are working to combat these threats and protect Americans in their own backyards,” Turner and Green said in a joint statement in August 2024 in response to the report.

The FBI has expressed similar concerns.
“For a while I have warned of the threat that foreign terrorists will try to exploit our Southwest border and other ports to advance our conspiracy against Americans,” former FBI director Christopher Ray told the House Judiciary Committee in April 2024. authorities. ”
