Will Texas be as “gerrymandered” as California?

Chuck Devoir, Texas Vice President of Public Policy, deals with whether Texas will become a “gerrymander” just like California.

The gerrymander map proposed by the Texas GOP will kick Firebrand Democrat Jasmine Crockett from her own district and add more house sheets to the Republican delegation of the lonely star.

Last week, Texas House Republicans introduced a rezoning proposal that would allow them to win five new GOP seats. The draft congressional map, which is likely to be changed prior to approval by the legislative rooms of both countries, aims to redraw the district’s lines to include more areas of Republicans in democratic hubs such as Dallas and Houston.

Crockett, who serves Texas’ 30th Congressional District, which represents much of Dallas, calls the rezoning effort “stopping power to silence voters.”

She claims that Republicans were asked to confirm their address along with other incumbent Democrats in Congress before they released the map.

Texas Mapfight escalates as Jeffries swears “all options” to stop the GOP plan

The unusual mid-registrich effort could force some Democrats into a major battle with fellow incumbents, as seats are more limited.

For example, if the map is adopted, Lloyd Dogget, who currently represents Texas’s 37th Congressional District in the Austin area, would be in the same district as Rep. Greg Cassard, who works in the nearby District 35, which is also anchored in Austin.

Last week, House Democrat leader Hakeem Jeffries called the proposed fight against the map “every moment on the deck.”

“We’re going to fight them politically. We’re going to fight the government. We’re going to fight them in court. We’re going to fight them in terms of acquiring the hearts and hearts of people in Texas and beyond,” Jeffries said at a press conference in Austin.

Jeffries said that while businesses and universities are on par with Trump, “Texas Democrats won’t bend their knees.”

Court sidetrack rezoning battles in major battlefield states

Texas Democrat Lizzie Fletcher, standing alongside Jeffries, warned that constituency efforts like the Lone Star State could spread nationwide as part of a broader push to strengthen Republican power.

“People across the country are seeing what we’re doing in Texas,” Fletcher said.
