Republicans on the House Oversight Committee are delving into what Hunter Biden means that he was responsible for his father’s performance in the consequential debate a year ago.
The revelation leads to House Oversight Committee Chairman James Commer R-KY investigating President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline and alleged concealment of the use of potentially permitted automated testing for his administration’s use of unauthorized auto-tests.
“He’s 81. He’s as tired as STT,” Hunter Biden told Andrew Callahan on his Channel 5 podcast last weekend. “They let him sleep in Ambien. He gets up on stage and he looks like he’s a deer in the headlights.”
However, the former president’s son later revealed to ABC News that it didn’t mean Biden was taking Ambien just before the debate, and was planning to make a bigger point about his father’s tough travel schedule in the weeks leading up to that tragic debate night.

“The Hunter Biden’s claim that they ‘give him so they could sleep’ raises serious questions,” a spokesman for the House Oversight Committee told Fox News Digital. “The House Oversight Committee is considering this as part of an investigation into President Biden’s cognitive decline and cover-up of fraudulent behavior by White House staff.”
Ambien, or Zolpidem, is a prescription drug for insomnia. According to Goodrx, it is intended for short-term use only. Common side effects include dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headaches, muscle and joint pain, double or blurry vision.

According to GoodRx, the drug can also cause memory problems and gr when it comes to daytime, and may include hallucinations, “abnormal thinking and behavior,” and “potentially increasing risk of dementia in older people.”
Ron Crane, Biden’s former chief of staff and fixtures for his reelection campaign, is expected to take part in an interview that was transcribed Thursday before the House Oversight Committee.
In a letter demanding his appearance, Comer quoted Klain as cutting off preparations for Biden’s argument “due to the president’s fatigue and lack of familiarity with the subject,” adding that Biden “didn’t really understand what his argument was about inflation.”
“If White House staff implements strategies that last for months or years to hide the status of the CEO or to carry out their duties, Congress may need to consider legislative responses,” Comer argued, “The scope of Crane’s responsibility in his personal and professional capabilities cannot be reached without an investigation.”
Josh Dorsey of the Wall Street Journal, Tyler Pager of the New York Times, and Isaac Earnsdoll of the Washington Post explains how the president did in June 2024 when he began answering his first questions in his new book, 2024: Trump’s White House and Democrats Lost America.

And behind the scenes, when Biden stumbled over the suspected answer that he “finally defeated Medicare,” Crane stood up and announced, “We’re f–Ed.”
When asked for comment to confirm the book’s allegations, Crane told Fox News Digital that she had “nothing to add.”
According to Fox News Digital, a former Biden administration aide said he called the Fifth Amendment during a deposit of the door to shut down with the House Oversight Committee.
Annie Tomasini has become the third Democratic official for Stonewall investigators considering whether signs of Biden’s mental decline are hidden in his inner circle.

A source familiar with the discussion told Fox News Digital that it called out its fifth revision multiple times. Tomasini herself did not respond when Fox News Digital asked if she would do so, and her lawyer did not respond to requests for comment.
“Today, the third witness in our investigation into President Biden’s cognitive decline and concealment of unauthorized enforcement behaviour has filed a motion for the Fifth Amendment. There is now a key Biden confidant pattern trying to protect himself from criminal liability for this potential conspiracy.”
Tomasini is the third former Biden administration official who came before the committee investigators under the subpoena, and is the fifth to appear in the whole.
She was intended to appear on Friday for a voluntary transcribed interview, but a committee aide told Fox News Digital previously that Tomasini’s lawyers had asked Comer to issue a special subpoena.
Previous officials who appeared under the subpoena (White House doctors Kevin O’Connor and Anthony Bernal, longtime aides to former First Lady Jill Biden also evoked the fifth amendment.

Biden’s office declined to comment on Fox News Digital about the House GOP probe regarding his suspicious use of Ambien.
However, a source familiar with the Biden team’s ideas about the ongoing House surveillance investigation told Fox News Digital that Trump and Congressional Republicans simply wanted “retaliation” through “partisan and coordinated efforts.”
“It’s an embarrassing attempt to fill it up,” the source said. “And their hope is that there will be just one contradiction between the witnesses in which Trump’s doj appears. [can] He prosecutes his political opponents and continues his campaign for revenge. ”
