Anti-ice protesters continue their third day demonstration in downtown Los Angeles, clashing with local and federal law enforcement agencies, with Gavin News appealing to the U.S. Department of Defense to withdraw Trump’s orders to federate the California State Guard.
“I officially requested that the Trump administration withdraw the illegal deployment of Los Angeles County troops and return it to my order,” Newsom said in a previous Twitter statement on X.
President Donald Trump ordered thousands of National Guards to be deployed on Saturday night after being attacked early on the day that caused a devastating cycle of demonstrations. However, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said the National Guard had not been deployed within the city after midnight on Sunday.
The military arrived at the federal building in downtown around 4am Sunday to ensure federal agents were in protection. It is further expanded into the Hall of Justice next to City Hall.

There have also been reports that the president may be stationed in Camp Pendleton with a “high alert” and deployed in LA.
La Mayor Karen Bass is hoping protesters will maintain peace, but she said in X that the federal government is “a chaotic escalation” in the heels of the ice attack.
In his statement, Newsom repeated his feelings.
“It wasn’t a problem until Trump got involved,” he said. “This is a violation of the sovereignty of the state. It burns tensions while pulling resources from where it is actually needed. It retracts the order.
