Governor Newsom criticizes Trump for using the National Guard after removing several troops.

A day after the Pentagon ordered half of the National Guard troops deployed in Los Angeles, Gov. Gavin Newsom criticized President Trump for wasting hundreds of millions of dollars and appearing to be “severe” by punishing immigrants.

Newsom also accused the president of trying to preserve the Republican power in Washington by pressureing Texas to elect GOP representatives in the Congressional district. The governor repeatedly poses a threat to launch similar efforts in California to support the Democrats.

“It’s all changed, it’s changing in real time,” Newsom told reporters Wednesday. “I’m not going to be the guy who said I could have and should have. I’m not passive at this point. I’m looking at my child in my eyes and not saying I was a bit ti-sick.”

Comments came at a press conference in which Newsom met with Senior Pastor Tanya Lopez to discuss the June incident in which she saw federal agents detain a constitutional lawyer in the parking lot of her church in June.

Newsom criticised the administration’s crackdown on immigrants, saying its sole goal is to terrorize families and communities. Newsom said the crackdown also harms family-owned businesses as immigrants who work and shop in stores.

The governor called the president’s decision to deploy some of Trump’s “cruelty control” some 4,000 national security guards, and said the decision to remove half of the troops came after the Pentagon recognized the absurdity of its deployment.

The government has wasted hundreds of millions of dollars on deployment, Newsom said. He added that the National Guard’s “utilization rate” was only about 5%. That is, while only that percentage was actively involved in the duties, the rest were restrained.

“They are now looking for problems and solutions,” he said of the National Guard.

The move to send some troops home comes after a legal battle over whether the regime can deploy troops. The federal court of appeals held that the president has broad authority to deploy troops to American cities.

State and local leaders said the National Guard was not needed to deal with protests against the migrant attack that led to the arrest of around 3,000 people.

On another issue, Newsmom has repeatedly poses the threat that California could redraw its election map and help it win more Congressional seats in response to Trump’s call for Texas and other states to redeem it to benefit Republicans in the 2026 midterm elections. Republicans are currently in power in both the Senate and House of Representatives. They have been instrumental in enacting the President’s policy agenda, including reducing healthcare and food aid for Americans in need.

“They can’t win in traditional games, so they want to change the game,” Newsom said. “We can act more than that. We can sit on the sidelines and talk about the way the world should do, or we can recognize the existential nature that is this moment.”

In 2010, California voters gave the independent civic district committee the authority to determine the boundaries of state legislatures in the U.S. House of Representatives, rather than leaving its power.

Newsom said the California Legislature could pass the bill in a special session of constitutional amendments proposed before voters to change the state’s reelection law through special elections held in a strict window before the 2026 primary.

The governor also said the California legislature is exploring potential legal loopholes that could redraw the map of the legislature with two-thirds of votes and avoid going to the ballot.

“It’s also an option being considered, and both are other options that interest me as I feel the same pressure I’m doing about the existential threats of what Donald Trump and some of these Republicans are trying to do, not just members of Congress, but others who are interested, as well as others who are interested,” Newsmom said.
