A 2-year-old child from Crestline has died. Authorities are calling it a “gun-related incident” involving the child’s 7-year-old brother.
According to a media release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were dispatched to a report of a shooting in the parking lot at 8250 Day Creek Blvd. Monday in Rancho Cucamonga around 3:53 p.m.
The address given by officials is a parking lot in the Foothill Crossing Shopping Center.
“When officers arrived, they learned that a 2-year-old boy had been shot,” SBSD said.
The boy was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“Investigation revealed that while the victim and his 7-year-old brother were in the truck, the 7-year-old brother discovered a firearm in the glove compartment, resulting in the shooting. This has been confirmed by investigators,” the representative confirmed.
SBSD’s Specialized Investigations Division has responded and assumed the investigation and a report will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review.
