Santa Barbara-Born Habit Burger & Grill was considered to have the best burgers in town for the second year in a row, according to a poll conducted by USA Today.
The chain’s signature double char beat the In-n-out and five-man burgers to win the top spot.
The chain responded to the news on Instagram. “As a 2-time hamburger champion, as an industry, it’s important to outweigh our small differences, especially in rankings,” the post read.
In-N-Out’s iconic double double went from second place in 2024 to fourth place this year.
Last year, Habit celebrated the victory with a sign near Lax near the In-N-Out location that reads “#2, IN-N-Out.”
A panel of USA Today 10 Best Editors and Burger Experts selected candidates, and readers voted to determine the winner.
