Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told lawmakers on Wednesday that Hamas Gaza chief Mohamed Singwar, the younger brother of the late group leader Yahiya Singwar, was killed.
One of Israel’s most wanted men, Singwar, took over in October after his brother was killed in southern Gaza.
Yahya Sinwar masterminded the Hamas terrorist attack on October 7, 2023, causing a war with Israel, and was later appointed leader of the group after Israel killed its predecessor, Ismail Hannie, in Iran.
Netanyahu’s comments include anti-tank missile post offices and weapons storage facilities after Israeli forces said they have attacked “dozens of targets across the Gaza Strip” over the past 48 hours.
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry for Hamasran Enclave said at least one person was killed and 48 were injured when gunshots were fired at crowds overranging the new aid distribution site established by the foundations of Israel and the US aid. It was not immediately clear who fired the fire.
Netanyahu vowed to continue fighting in Gaza until Hamas was destroyed and returned the remaining 58 hostages seized during the attack on October 7th. During that time, 1,200 people were killed.
Palestinian health officials say 54,000 Palestinians, including thousands of children, have been killed in Gaza since the war began.
