Authorities may consider Hanna Kobayashi, 30, who went missing in Los Angeles on November 8th, to be a “self-disappeared person,” but her family has not yet finished searching for her.

Kobayashi was found unharmed entering Mexico on Nov. 12, authorities said, and was thought to have been the possible victim of a violent crime after her disappearance, but authorities now believe she may have been the victim of a violent crime. Instead, she believes she entered Mexico of her own free will. .

But her family hasn’t given up on the search. They traveled from Hawaii to Los Angeles to look for her, but on November 24, her father, Ryan Kobayashi, was found dead in a parking lot near LAX.

On Tuesday, the rest of the family released a statement saying they “continue to hope that Hannah is safe,” adding: “The search is far from over and we will do everything in our power to bring her home safely. I intend to,” he added.

Brian Entin of social media NewsNation said in a statement: “We want answers and solutions to ensure Hannah’s safety, and we urge law enforcement and the public to stay focused on the search for Hannah and avoid speculation. I ask you to avoid that conclusion.”

But at a press conference Monday, Los Angeles Police Department officials maintained that Kobayashi had intended to cut off from modern life, trying to balance assuaging his family’s concerns with protecting Kobayashi’s privacy. He said it was unclear whether she still had psychic feelings. mobile phone.

“Our top priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of Mr. Kobayashi,” Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell said. “We ask Ms. Kobayashi to contact her family, law enforcement, or U.S. Embassy officials to let them know she is safe. She has a right to privacy and we respect her choices. But I also understand the concerns her loved ones are feeling. A simple message may reassure those who care about her.”
