The 29-year-old man was sentenced to 400 years in prison after being found guilty of a girl who committed sexual assault while sleeping at home.
Brandon Sion was found guilty of sexually assaulting four girls between the ages of five and ten, according to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office. The victims were invited to sleep overnight at Xiong’s house and when they went to sleep, they were taken to a remote part of the house where Xiong had sexually assaulted them. One of the victims revealed the abuse to his mother in October 2018, and investigators began to discover additional victims.
A news release by the District Attorney’s Office regarding the circumstances surrounding the stay-out and why the girl was allowed to stay at Xiong’s home does not provide details. The office did not immediately return a Times request for comment.
Xiong was convicted last week on counting nine felony: three counts of forced schedule behavior, two sexual acts with children under the age of 10, one count of three indecency in which three indecency contacted the child and committed a felony, said on Monday.
In addition to felony charges, Xiong received multiple victim enhancements, resulting in a full consecutive sentence for each sex offence committed against different victims.
Xiong has a previous conviction for attempted first-degree robbery, officials said. California has a three-strike law that will increase the chances of a more severe sentence. A third strike could mean 25 years of life in prison.
Xiong’s 400-year sentence is one of the few cases that involve a long sentence for a sexual assault crime in California.
In 2023, 36-year-old Daniel Ramirez Gutierrez was charged with 19 counts of sexual assault on two children and one adult in San Luis Obispo and Contra Costa County. He was sentenced to 435 years in state prison. And in 2016, the 41-year-old Fresno man was sentenced to 1-503 for raping his teenage daughter for four years.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, Xiong was able to serve a minimum of 20 years of his 400-year prison term.
