Ballots cast in Los Angeles County are cast by mail, in the mailbox, or at one of the hundreds of voting centers in the region, all ultimately going to the City of Industry’s vast ballot processing center.
The warehouse-like building in the southern Los Angeles County community will be buzzing with activity on Election Day and in the days that follow. All ballots pass through a signature verification device that compares the signature on the return envelope to the voter’s signature on file.

Once verified, the ballot is removed from the envelope, reviewed and prepared for processing before being sent for counting.

How many ballots are there?
In Los Angeles County, more than 2 million of the 5.8 million ballots sent to voters had been returned by Tuesday morning.
But the work doesn’t end on election night.
This process continues until all ballots are counted. California law requires county election officials to enter and certify results within 30 days.
