President Donald Trump closed all diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) offices throughout the federal government in his first week and signed many executive orders to quickly revert the efforts of former President Joe Biden.
Hours after he took the oath of office on January 20th, the president signed an executive order to remove all DEI programs from the federal government. He also quickly signed an order that would become “official US government policy,” which would “recognise only two genders, male and female.”

A day later, the President instructed the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to inform the agency and department heads to close all DEI offices and to place those government workers in those offices on paid leave.

The move forced these offices to immediately delete all outward media (websites, social media accounts, etc.) for these offices, including websites, social media accounts, and demand the withdrawal of final pending documents, directives, orders, materials and stock plans.
Trump has also cancelled current and imminent contracts and focused on the DEI initiative, with Elon Musk, head of Government Efficiency (DOGE), saying Move has saved the federal government $420 million.
The President also issued two other enforcement measures that day targeted the DEI.
One was an executive order to end discrimination in the workplace and end higher education through race and gender-based preferences under Day’s outfit.
The other was a memo to eliminate the Biden administration’s policy of prioritizing DEI employment in the Federal Aviation Administration.
In a memo rolling back Biden’s DEI employment practices in the FAA, Trump ordered the Secretary of Transport and FAA administrators to immediately suspend Biden’s DEI employment program and return to non-discriminatory merit-based employment.

Trump also called for FAA managers to review past performance and performance standards for all critical safety agency employees and make it clear that anyone who cannot demonstrate proper capabilities can be replaced by someone who ensures safety and efficiency of flights.

“Illegal and discriminatory diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) employment, including race, gender, disability, or other standards other than airline passenger safety, as well as standards other than overall job excellence, ability, and qualification, harm all Americans who deserve to fly with confidence,” reads the memo.
The memo states: “All so-called DEI initiatives, including all dangerous preference policies and practices, shall be immediately withdrawn in favor of treating employees in employment, promotion and other ways based on individual capabilities, capabilities, achievements and commitment.”
Trump has also revoked Biden’s order on the diversity initiative. “Promoting racial equality and support for underserved communities through the federal government.” He signed on his first day in office in 2021.
In February, the Department of Education warned the state education department that there was a risk of removing DEI policies or losing federal funds.
The move comes after Trump signed an executive order directing agencies to provide plans to eliminate federal funding for “illegal and discriminatory treatment and indoctrination at K-12 schools based on gender ideology and discriminatory equity ideology.”
Major university medical centers accused of hiding DEI programs, influential senators call them
The president’s efforts to end DEIs across the federal government have prompted the cancellation of such programs across the private sector.
Meta canceled the DEI program in January, similar to McDonald’s. And after the 2024 election, Walmart, Ford Motor, John Deere, Lowe and Toyota also ended their DEI programs.

According to Forbes, IBM, Gannett and Constellation Brands Inc., they recently made changes to their DEI policy in April. Early in 2025, UnitedHealth Group, MLB, Victoria’s Secret, Warner Bros. Discovery, Goldman Sachs, Paramount, Bank of America, Blackrock, Citigroup, Pepsi, Jpmorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, Coca-Cola, Deloitte, PBS, Google, Disney, Chipaled back, and more.
Meanwhile, in March, the National Institutes of Health withdrew the agency’s “scientific integrity policy” implemented in the last weeks of Biden’s term in order to strip the DEI requirements.
Biden-era policy has called the DEI a “essential” part of the “wide scientific process,” pushing NIH’s chief scientist and scientific integrity officials to “promote agency efforts on diversity, equity and inclusion.” He also enacted an institution-wide policy directive that directs supervisors to “support” scientists and researchers who are “asexual” or “intersex,” and pleaded NIH leadership to “consult with relevant offices” if additional DEI expertise was required.
Multiple federal agencies end LinkedIn agreements over DEI
“The Biden administration has weaponized the NIH’s scientific integrity policy to inject harmful DEIs and gender ideology into research,” said Andrew Nixon, spokesman for the Department of Health and Human Services. “By retracting this (scientific integrity) policy, the NIH can bring science back to its golden standards and protect the integrity of science.”
The Biden administration has also funded grants related to the DEI. For example, it’s about $165,000, focusing on “curricular queering” that guides family medicine physicians to treat transgender patients. These grants have been cancelled.
And earlier this week, several federal agencies told Fox News Digital that they had dropped millions of dollars in a LinkedIn service agreement over the embrace of business social network DEI.
The Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Veterans Division have dropped LinkedIn. This is a move to comply with the president’s executive order, which prohibits federal agencies from contracting with companies that accept DEI policies.

“All American taxpayers should be mad at how the Biden administration wasted so much money on contracts like this,” an interior ministry spokesman told Fox News Digital. “Under President Trump’s leadership, we are working together hundreds of thousands of contracts in this sector alone, canceling a vain awakened, awakened, truly ridiculous contract that doesn’t match the will of the American people.”
