Thursday is expected to start with sunny skies across Southern California, but storms are approaching along the coast.
A fast-moving storm approaching from the north is expected to bring cloudy skies around 1 p.m., but rain may not arrive right away.
“Clouds will begin to expand in the afternoon and evening with a chance of rain, with showers most likely in the mountains and foothills,” said KTLA meteorologist Henry DiCarlo. .
This weather system will bring strong winds with it, but not as strong as the dangerous Santa Anas, which sparked dangerous fires earlier in the week.

“This keeps us dry, we have low humidity, so things are being pushed eastward,” Henry said.
The center of the storm will remain north of us, but southern California will get wet.
“We don’t see a direct hit from the storm, but we do see the possibility of some showers. It’s a 50-50 chance of rain because although it’s humid, the atmosphere isn’t ready to attract rain.” Mr. Henry said. It came out of the clouds. Do you think it will rain? i will do it. About a tenth of an inch of rain could fall in the Los Angeles area, with up to a quarter of an inch possible. Some locations in the mountains and foothills may have even higher totals.
The National Weather Service says there could be a slight chance of rain in Los Angeles on Saturday, but Henry doesn’t think the area will be affected at this point.
Temperatures are also expected to rise again early next week as high pressure returns to the region.
