President Donald Trump and Melania Trump’s first lady Melania Trump featured the landing in Carville, Texas, after massive floods in the area claimed more than 120 lives.
Both the President and First Lady met with local officials and first responders working on the fallout and destruction that hit central Texas communities after the Guadalupe River surged over 22 feet in hours.
“I’ve never seen anything like this. It’s a bad thing,” Trump said on Friday in a roundtable with local officials and responders.
In addition to the lives lost in the flood, officials report that more than 160 people have been missing and not explained in Kerr County, Texas.

“So, in everything in the nation, American hearts are shattered,” Trump said. “We are full of sadness and devastation. It’s a loss of life and unfortunately, they are still watching.”
“My administration does it all with its power to help Texas,” he said.
The people who died in the flood were at least 27 campers and counselors at Camp Mystic, a Christian summer camp founded for girls at least 100 years ago.
“They were there because they loved God,” Trump said in the round table. “And as we grieve this inconceivable tragedy, we take comfort in the knowledge that God has welcomed those little beautiful girls into his comforting arms of heaven.”
That happened again this week.
Cabinet meeting
Trump held a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, where he discussed plans to visit Texas flood sites.
“I’m off with my First Lady on Friday. We’ll be traveling,” Trump said. “And we don’t want to get in the way of anyone, because that’s what happens. The president goes, everyone is focused.
Trump shifts tone to Putin

Trump also worked on a new pitch to SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s third party following Trump’s signature on July 4th. Musk opposed the measure because concerns increased the deficit and raised the debt cap.
But Trump said he is not worried about Musk’s new “American Party.”
“I think it helps us. It will probably help. Third parties have always been good for me,” Trump told the cabinet meeting.
Trump also shared details of his recent calls with Russian President Vladimir Putin, claiming he was unhappy with Putin as the war between Russia and Ukraine intensifies.
“We get a lot of bulls — if you want to know the truth, they’ve been thrown into us by Putin,” Trump said. “He’s always been very kind to us, but it turned out to be pointless.”
Netanyahu Conference
Trump also met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday and Tuesday. Netanyahu marked the third time he visited Washington during Trump’s second term. The visit comes as Trump is trying to secure a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
Trump signaled that it might be on the horizon soon.

“We say we’re very close to the deal,” Trump told reporters Wednesday. “I don’t know if it’s a secret or not, but it doesn’t matter to me. If that takes us where we want to be, we want a ceasefire.”
“We want to have peace,” he said. “We want to get hostages back, and I think we’re doing that.”
