Hermosa Beach police on Tuesday were investigating the discovery of hidden cameras in multiple bathrooms at a dance studio.
According to the Hermosa Beach Police Department, officers responded to the school of dance and music in the 1100 block of Aviation Boulevard at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
Police said the cameras were found by the parents of students at the school. The camera was handed over to the school administrator and contacted the police.
“Unisex bathrooms are used by staff, parents and students,” police said. Students range from 2 to 18 years old.
“We understand the concerns this incident may cause in our community, especially parents and families, and we want to ensure that we are addressing this issue with the greatest severity. HBPD detectives are actively investigating all leads available to identify and take responsibility for this intrusive behavior.”
School owner Liliana Somma said the school has more than 1,000 students and she hired the company to search for other devices.
“We also bought these regular sweep devices that we’re trying to do all day long. I think everyone should do,” Somma told the station. “But that’s what we’re trying to do. It’s new and we can also add cameras to the hallways and see who’s coming and going into the studio itself.”
Anyone with information was asked to call Hermosa Beach Police at 310-318-0360.
