A search is underway for a woman suspected of killing the decorated Calfire captain who helped him fight Eton Fire.
Yolanda Malody, 53, also known as Yolanda Oreziniczack, is a suspect in the murder of his wife, Rebecca Malody, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. It was revealed that 49-year-old Rebecca Malodi was stabbed to death on February 17th at Ramona’s residence. The couple were married for just over two years, according to a sheriff’s murder investigator who cited their family.
Yolanda Malodi is believed to have fled to Mexico. Authorities issued a warrant for her arrest.
According to public records, the suspect and the victim shared the same address.

According to an arrest warrant obtained by KABC-TV News, on February 17, Rebecca Marody’s mother, Lorena, called 911 and said her daughter was stabbed at her home on Rancho Villa Road. Detectives arrive to find Rebecca Malodi, who suffered a stab wound to the neck, chest and abdomen. They attempted lifesaving measures, but they were asserted that she was dead at the scene.
Lorena told detectives that Rebecca Malody told Yolanda Malody a week ago that she was ending the marriage, the warrant told her. The next day, in a home security video reviewed by the detective, Rebecca Malody is seen running from a woman believed to be Yolanda Malody.
“Yolanda! Please…! I don’t want to die!” cried Rebecca Malody, according to the warrant. Yolanda Malodi is seen in blood on her arm.
“I should have thought of that before,” replied Yolanda Malody while standing on Rebecca Malody, holding the knife. Yolanda Malody told her wife to enter the house, but Rebecca Malody repeatedly told her to call 911.
About ten minutes later, Yolanda Marodi was captured with a security camera collecting his pets and luggage and loading them into a Chevrolet equinox SUV. She drove, and her car was recorded by the Department of Homeland Security, who entered Mexico late that night.

Rebecca Malody began her career as a volunteer firefighter in Moreno Valley in 1993, and worked as a seasonal firefighter in Riverside and San Bernardino counties from 1994 to 2000. She was an engineer in fire equipment in 2007 and was promoted to captain in 2022.
Cal Fire, where she worked, said, “It is a great sadness that Cal Fire is reporting the unjust death of Fire Captain Rebecca Becky Malody. Captain Malody has served mainly at Cal Fire for over 30 years in Riverside County, but also spent time in San Bernardino and San Diego Counties. The tragic loss of Captain Malody is mourned by her family, friends and her Calfire family.”
What do you know about Yolanda Malodi?
She was sentenced to prison in 2004 after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter, then pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter, before being sentenced to prison, according to court records. She spent time in prison from 2004 to 2013.
Molodi remains on a massive scale, and authorities are seeking the help of the public in finding her. She is said to have 5 feet 2, about 166 pounds and brown hair, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s department.
