Several celebrities have lamented the death of heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne.
“I’m so sad to hear the news that Ozzy Osbourne has passed away,” Elton John wrote on Instagram. “He was a dear friend and a huge pioneer who secured his position in the Rock God’s Pantheon – a real legend. He was one of the funniest people I’ve ever met.
Metallica, a heavy metal band, posted a photo of the band along with Prince of Darkness, along with a broken heart emoji.
“There’s no words. We love you,” wrote Billy Joe Armstrong, Green Day frontman on Instagram.
“Goodbye, Bi Ozzy. Sleep well, my friend. I’ll see you – not sooner, but later,” English musician Rod Stewart wrote.
“The Red Rocker” Sammy Hagar also paid tribute to Osbourne on Instagram.
“Ozzy Osbourne was one of the true rock legends that was always kind. He was dead on July 5th and still stood there and played as he promised… Amazing! “Tell me about your commitment and loyalty to your fans. No one will surpass that! My brother, you did it all.”
Fellow MTV reality star Bam Margera said, “Legends Never Die. I’m grateful to you for sharing this moment with hosting Ozzy Osbourne at VH1 Rock Honors in Vegas. “Jack, Kelly and Sharon… my wife and I share your pain. Meaning of love and sadness for you.
The impact of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has expanded to other genres.
The legendary hip-hop flav salutes Osborne by posting on Instagram, saying, “Rip Ozzy. I’m proud to know you. I miss you physically here. I love Sharon, Ozzy’s kids, and all his family and friends.”
Actor Jason Momoa, who joined Osborne on stage at Birmingham’s Villa Park earlier this month, posted a photo of him alongside his locker and his wife Sharon, saying, “Your Ozzy Osborne. All Aloha Sharon Osborne and Ohana.”
Black Sabbath’s X account simply writes, “Ozzy Forever!”
Adam Sandler posted a photo of Osborne in the 2000 film Little Nicky, saying, “Have we stayed overnight with our brothers, with our peers, in the woods, in cars, in barrel parties, in boats, in football practice? We’re so happy to spend time with the legend.”
On Tuesday morning, Osborne’s family revealed that he had passed away at the age of 76.
“It is more sadness than mere words that we can tell you that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne must report that she has passed away this morning, and he is surrounded by love with his family.
He leaves his wife Sharon and six children behind. Kelly, Amy and Jack share with Sharon, while Jessica, Louis and Elliott share with their first wife, Thelma Riley. He leaves his grandchild behind again.
