R-Mo. Sen. Josh Hawley urged Homeland Security (DHS) secretary Christa Noem to declassify all documents related to the attempted assassination of Butler, Pennsylvania, then-presidential candidate, Donald Trump, on July 13, 2024.

Holy’s demand comes a year after 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks fired several shots with a Trump from the rooftop near the presidential rally. The gunman had a clear shot and grazeed the president’s ears.

But even a year later, questions still remain about how Crooks managed to get a clear shot.

In a letter to Noem, Holy celebrates the first anniversary of his first assassination attempt in Trump.

Rand Paul says he “don’t know” the motivations of Trump’s assassin

Senator Holy urged Christie Noem’s DHS secretary to declassify all documents related to the first attempt at assassination in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, 2024.

“This opportunity marks a deeply troubling chapter in our country’s history and reminds us of the importance of transparency in maintaining public trust in the moment of national crisis,” he wrote. “To this end, we recommend that you take necessary steps to declassify all documents within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) related to the July 13, 2024 event.

“You know, assassination attempts against current and former presidents are rare, but they are very consequential events in American life,” continued Holy. “And Americans are rightly hoping for full transparency from the government.”

The senator pointed to investigate the Biden administration’s Secret Service and Stonewalling tactics from the DHS.

Will Butler happen again? Former Secret Service Agent considers political violence in 2025

“The public has learned much more from whistleblowers than civil servants, and I have published a report documenting these disclosures. “In October last year, in a unanimous vote, the Homeland Security Committee passed my law and requested that all relevant documents be made public.

“Now, I am requesting you to immediately confidentially and release all documents related to President Trump’s first attempt at assassination within the full scope of your authority, subject to only the narrowest possible editing necessary to protect ongoing business or personal safety,” he said. “The public deserves a complete and accurate explanation of this event, the circumstances that allowed it to happen, and the measures the government has taken to strengthen safeguards.”

Holy requested a full inventory of all classification or private material related to the first assassination attempt in Trump, including reports, internal communications, threat assessments, post-action reviews and records of coordination with other agencies.

Secret Service’s critical security has expired, released in a new report on Trump’s assassination attempt

Republican candidate Donald Trump was stolen from the stage on July 13, 2024 at a campaign event at Butler Farm Show in Butler, Pennsylvania, and blood appears on his face surrounded by Secret Service agents.

He also requested a formal explanation of Noem’s continued classification by July 30, 2025, as well as the proposed plans and timelines for immediate declassification and publication of all remaining documents.

Fox News Digital has contacted DHS to comment on the issue.

Holy released a report in September, detailing the Secret Service’s failures in connection with Trump’s attempted assassination in July.

The report “revealed a compounding pattern of negligence, sloppy, slow, and years of serious incompetence, all culminated in an assassination attempt of a few inches from its success.”

Holy blamed the FBI and DHS, secret services for everyone “trying to circumvent true accountability.”

“These agencies and their leaders have slowly ousted Congressional investigations, misled the American people and avoided responsibility,” the report said.

After the first attempt at two assassination attempts against Trump in just two months, Holy visited the Butler Rally site to interview whistleblowers, opening a whistleblower tip line and encouraging people with related information to share with officials.

Documents summoned by the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs show a major failure among six US Secret Service (USSS) agents who were suspended without pay in response to an attempted assassination.

The document was based on interviews with agents and their colleagues, revealing that several agents acknowledged the existence of major security concerns at Butler Rally, but did not help them develop plans to properly cover the roof that provided the scammers with a clear shot of Trump.

The document shows that some agents in charge did not carry out a walkthrough of the site. For example, the lead advance agent said the documentation showed she never made the final security walkthrough of the rally site because she was in the hospital due to heat exhaustion, the special agent in charge said when asked.

Some agents were suspended without paying for various terms, but none of them were fired.
